Dr. Robert Barton, D.C.
Peak Performance Sports Medicine & Injury Clinic was founded in 1998 originally as Fairmont Rehabilitation & Pain Management. The clinic was founded to serve specialists in neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, and pain management with conservative treatment solutions for their patients for which there are limited other options.

Dr. Robert Barton, D.C. completed a neurosurgical rotation with Edward Murphy, M.D. in 1996 forging a relationship that has ultimately benefited thousands of patients. A specific biomechanical rehabilitation model was developed to address mechanical pain syndromes that were difficult to treat with traditional passive therapies alone. The clinic continued to develop relationships with other specialists thus providing solutions to additional patients suffering from musculoskeletal pain syndromes.

Peak Performance Sports Medicine utilizes the most advanced technologies in terms of treatments and medical records. Our records are completely digital including when appropriate, diagnostic imaging. This allows for efficient exchange of medical records and information as it relates to coordination of care.

The professional staff includes Robert Barton, D.C., Nolan Wheeler, D.C., and Adam Gomez, M.S. as well as support staff for the front office and patient care. Dr. Nolan Wheeler graduated in 2004 from Texas Chiropractic College upon completing an orthopedic spine surgery rotation at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. This gave Dr. Wheeler first hand experience in treating difficult spine cases and gives him a unique perspective in exhausting all conservative treatment options before surgery. Mr. Gomez holds a masters degree from the University of Houston in exercise physiology. He works as an exercise physiologist in the practice assisting patients in biomechanical functional restoration. The patients are managed and treated by Dr. Barton and Dr. Wheeler.

Peak Performance uses state of the art technologies including solutions for lumbar disc problems using the DRX9000. The DRX9000 is the primary spinal decompression device in which the spinal decompression studies utilized. We also have a FDA approved class IV laser that treats pain and inflammation including that associated with tendonitis and nerve pain syndromes. Low tech rehabilitation strategies are also used to correct biomechanics and complement the high tech devices.

Peak Performance Sports Medicine & Injury Clinic operates in a state of the art 6000 square foot facility at Patients Medical Center located on the South Sam Houston Tollway.

The model of Peak Performance Sports Medicine & Injury Clinic is to work in a multidisciplinary format with other specialists and family physicians to achieve the most aggressive conservative treatment possible for each patient.
